12 Day Phalaborwa - Johannesburg Expedition
Sefapane Lodge & Safaris have designed a incredible 12-day tour in conjunction with Africa Unlimited Expeditions & Transfers. The tour combines the highlights of Limpopo and Kruger Park with the highlights of Mozambique, its bush, beautiful coastline and its tropical beaches. The route is still undiscovered and you will be one of the first to travel this exciting route, exploring the unique features of Mozambique. The tour is conducted in small groups with a maximum 8 people. You will be guided by an enthusiastic and experienced guide, while travelling comfortably in our specially designed 4x4 vehicle with large panorama windows for optimal view.
The route commences in Phalaborwa, at Sefapane Lodge & Safaris and ends in Johannesburg.

The Limpopo Bush 2 Beach Expedition from 1 November 2008 – 31 October 2009
Day 1 - Phalaborwa, Sefapane Lodge & Safaris Expected arrival time at the Sefapane Lodge in Phalaborwa is in the afternoon. Enjoy all facilities of the lodge as well as the plush gardens, where dinner will be served tonight. Your accommodation consists of a comfortable rondavel where you can prepare yourself for your first safari.

Day 2 - Sefapane Lodge & Safaris Early rise for a day safari in the renowned Kruger National Park, known for its biological diversity and impressive animal kingdom, including "The Big 5" (Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard). You return to the lodge at the end of the day, where you can re-live the impressions of today over a delicious dinner.

Day 3 - Sefapane Lodge & Safaris After breakfast you leave for the river safari. Board a comfortable raft and enjoy the cruise while viewing crocodile, hippo and other animals that come to the river to quench their thirst. Return to the lodge to relax for a while before you return to Kruger Park for the evening safari. After a sundowner drink, the spotlights will come on to look for ‘eyes in the dark’. Your search will be rewarded with a traditional African braai in the bush.

Day 4 - Kruger National Park - Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park We depart to the Giriyondo Border post through Kruger Park and enter the Parque Nacional do Limpopo in Mozambique. Arrive at Machampane Wilderness Camp, situated in the only private concession of the Transfontier Park. The camp consists of 6 luxury en-suite tents built on raised wooden decks along the Machampane River. Do some birding from your veranda and enjoy the serenity of the area!

Day 5 - Parque Nacional do Limpopo An early morning is rewarded with a spectacular sunrise making it appear as though you are able to touch the horizon. Explore the area around the river on foot guided by two armed rangers. The area is unspoilt and offers beautiful views of the impressive Lebombo Mountains. On return, a hearty breakfast awaits you. Spend the rest of the morning bird watching or relaxing on your private deck on the Machampane River. Set out after lunch on another guided walk. A Mozambican braai will be served around the camp fire tonight.

Day 6 - Machampane – Xai Xai Wake up in the wonderful serenity of the Parque Nacional do Limpopo. After breakfast we head towards the impressive Massingir Dam, experiencing local culture in the many villages we encounter along the route. Keep going. as the coastline of Mozambique awaits! Tonight the evening is spent in Xai Xai Beach Resort overlooking the Indian ocean.

Day 7 – Xai Xai – Inhambane/Barra Depart northwards for Inhambane and the small town of Barra. The next few days will be here on the pristine white beach with palm trees all around and the warm Indian Ocean at your doorstep. Welcome to paradise! Take strolls along the endless beaches and take in the sensory splendour of what surrounds you or book one of the many optional activities.
* 3 nights Barra Lodge or Areia Branca – Breakfast and dinner included
Day 8 – Ponta do Barra Wake up to the fresh sea air! After breakfast today we will board a boat and cruise across the lagoon to an isolated sandbar, called Pansy Island. Here time can be taken up by snorkelling, sunbathing or admiring the beautiful Pansy shells hidden beneath the sand. On our return to the lodge, choose from all the optional activities or just sit back and relax.

Day 9 – Ponta do Barra Off to a nearby town called Tofo, to experience the “Mercado’ (market) where shopping for arts and crafts, textiles, spices and souvenirs can be done The option of snorkelling on an Ocean Safari, where one can try to spot whale sharks, dolphins and manta rays.

Day 10 Ponta do Barra - Maputo Time to leave Barra behind and head southwards along the coastal road to the capital of Mozambique, Maputo. The city boasts a lively harbour and colourful markets, all with a strong Portuguese flavour.

Day 11 - Maputo – Dullstroom Let the commotion of the city pass you by on an early morning city tour. Maputo has enjoyed a fascinating history from an ancient trading port to a colonial 'African Riviera' to a cosmopolitan African capital city. Then depart for the Ressano Garcia border post and cross back into South Africa. Onward travel to the impressive mountains around Dullstroom, the trout fishing Mecca of South Africa. The last night of this exciting tour is spent enjoying dinner at Critchley Hackle with newfound friends.

Day 12 - Dullstroom – Johannesburg Time to say goodbye and return back home. After breakfast departure on the final kilometres to Johannesburg, the endpoint of our exciting Bush 2 Beach tour.
