9 day Self-Drive tour Lubombo Bush 2 Beach

Day 1  Sefapane – Nelspruit  

Leave Sefapane Lodge behind and travel the famous Panorama Route. Stop at the Three Rondavels, Burkes Luck Potholes and Gods Window. Enjoy tasty pancakes for lunch at Harry’s Pancakes in Graskop and arrive at your destination for the night; Serenity Forest Eco Lodge. Arriving at 16:00 will secure a  delicious afternoon tea with cake served on the deck.

Dinner is enjoyed at the lodge. Take pleasure in your own comfortable chalet.

Day 2  KNP, Serenity Forest Eco Lodge  

Enjoy 1300 hectares of spectacular and unspoilt scenery that enfold the lodge. Serenity is a sanctuary for abundant & varied bird life, butterflies and a growing population of wildlife. You can also explore the southern parts of Kruger National Park, only 20 minutes away. Arrive back at the lodge in the late afternoon and indulge in a cocktail or two, at the bar before dinner.

Day 3  Nelspruit - Swaziland 

After breakfast, depart for Jeppe’s Reef Border Post, on the northern boundary of Swaziland. Cross into Swaziland and head south towards Mkhaya Nature Reserve. Here you will be met by the lodge guide in an open vehicle and transferred on an evening safari to Stone Camp, where you will be spending the next 2 nights. Arrive at Stone Camp after dark and walk through candle lit paths to your unique stone cottage. Each cottage is screened by thick vegetation, allowing for total privacy. The interiors are simple yet stylishly decorated The gas lanterns lit at night and soft mosquito netting draping over the sumptuous beds lends a romantic ambiance to the lovely cottages.

Day 4  Swaziland, Stone camp

Today an experienced ranger and guide will take you on an early morning game drive in the Mkhaya Game Reserve. As Swaziland's refuge for endangered species, Mkhaya Game Reserve specialises in the conservation and breeding of black and white rhino, as well as other rare game. Breakfast will be waiting for you upon your return to the camp. Enjoy a short nap, before an optional guided game walk, where you can view the prolific bird life, learn more about the plants in the area, or just sit quietly near a watering hole while watching the animals quench their thirst.

After lunch, you will depart once more, on a late afternoon and night game drive. Arrive back at camp after dark and enjoy the dinner that is specially prepared for you in the outside boma.

Day 5  Swaziland – KZN, Tembe Elephant Game Reserve

Enjoy your final game drive in the Mkhaya Reserve, before heading further south, to KwaZulu - Natal.
After breakfast, you exit Swaziland through one of the southern border posts and continue via Pongola and Jozini, to Tembe Elephant Game Reserve. Settle into your luxury tent, and cool off with a dip in the little thatch-sheltered pool next to the boma. Later in the afternoon when the temperature subsides, you can venture off on the exciting evening safari game drive.
On your return, enjoy a wholesome bush cuisine, served under a blanket of stars  or by lamplight of the communal dining boma, surrounded by the thrilling sounds of the bush. Swap tales with your fellow guests as you bask in the warmth of the campfire, watching the spectacular evening display of acapella isiatamiya singing.

* 1 night Tembe Elephant Reserve – Breakfast and dinner included

Day 6  KZN - Maputaland

Enjoy an early breakfast, followed by a morning safari game drive; a short drive to the Maputaland coast. Drive to the Coastal Cashew where you will be met by the driver from Rocktail Beach Camp. He will take you the last km’s to the lodge through thick sand.  Tonight we will spend the evening overlooking the Indian Ocean, while sipping on cocktails and enjoying a heavenly seafood dinner.

* 3 nights Rocktail Beach Camp – Breakfast and dinner included

Day 7 & 8  Rocktail Beach, Maputaland

Wake up to the fresh sea air! These 2 days are days of leisure; spend the time snorkelling, sun bathing or appreciatively gazing at the spectacular views of the lodge’s private beach. Try snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing, whale watching and see the turtles hatch their eggs on the beach (seasonal) Or simply sit back, relax and sip on a cocktail while reading a book on the deck. End the day with wonderful dinners at the restaurant of the lodge, overlooking the beautiful ocean.

Day 9 Maputaland -Johannesburg


Time to leave the beach behind and return back home. The lodge will bring you back to your car after which you will start on the drive back to Johannesburg. Depending on the time of your flight you can drive this stretch on one day, alternatively we can book and overnight stop for you.
